Chapter 5: Swimming With Sharks: Teaching for Understanding and Engagement

  1. This chapter was helpful with how to do the K.W.L. charts. It helped to see how to start the conversation to get the beginning "shema" or what you think you know. Putting all the children's thoughts on the chart and then how to show them they are misconceptions was very helpful. I liked the new learning part and then finishing it with how to connect it to your prior knowledge, thus making connections to help the retention.
